“I had an excellent experience with this electrician from start to finish. Communication was prompt and professional, the work was completed on schedule, and the quality of craftsmanship was outstanding. They took the time to explain the process clearly, addressed all of my questions, and ensured everything was completed safely and up to code. The attention to detail, professionalism, and respect for my home truly stood out. I would confidently recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality electrical work. After a tree fell and took out the power line to our home, Brandon from Schultz Family Electric was at our house within the hour. After evaluating the damage, the news wasn’t great due to the age of our home, but Brandon immediately reassured us by saying, ‘Don’t worry. I got you.’ And he absolutely did. The entire housing setup needed to be upgraded, and he wasted no time getting started. He provided a precise and fair estimate, set us up with a generator for temporary power, and kept us informed every step of the way. Brandon and his coworker, Armando, completed the entire job in just one day. Their efficiency, professionalism, and dedication during such a stressful situation were truly exceptional. Brandon and Armando are genuinely good people: trustworthy, friendly, and honest. It’s rare to find contractors who combine such high-quality workmanship with integrity and compassion. I know I still have more projects to complete on my home, and Brandon will absolutely be the first person I call for any future electrical work.”

Would highly recommend! Brandon came to see us after hours the day we called to help us with our set up. We got a portable generator and had never owned any sort of generator before. He explained everything which we needed and any additional add-ons we might want for the future, but did not push us on ANYTHING. He showed us exactly the parts we needed on Amazon we could get ourselves to save a bit of money as well. Workers came out and were done in the span of 2 hours or so. They even did a little extra by routing the wiring so that the port outlet for the generator could be behind our fence as we asked for safety purposes. After all was done they showed us the steps on getting the generator running during outages and we did a test run so make sure all went well. They will also do maintenance and checks on your generator annually or bi-annually each year so to make sure all is well before hurricane season. Definitely will be my go to electrician.

Whole House Surge Protection Service

Whole house surge protection is the work of installing a device at your panel that guards every circuit in your home against damaging voltage spikes. A power surge is a sudden spike in voltage that travels through the entire electrical system in just an instant. That spike can fry electronics, destroy appliances, and damage the wiring throughout your whole home. Along the Gulf Coast, where storms and lightning are frequent, surges are a regular and genuinely serious threat. Whole house surge protection installs right at the main panel, where it intercepts surges before they ever reach your circuits. The device diverts the excess voltage safely to ground, protecting everything connected to your electrical system at once. Schultz Family Electric installs whole house surge protection with all the care and code knowledge it genuinely deserves. We install the surge protective device at the panel and confirm the grounding that actually makes it work. We explain how layered protection guards your home from the panel all the way out to the outlet. We help you protect the real investment you have made in your electronics and your appliances. A single device at the panel quietly defends every circuit behind it day after day. Understanding how surge protection works shows clearly why it is such a valuable safeguard for any home.

A power surge is far more common and more damaging than many homeowners ever realize. A surge is a brief spike in voltage far above the normal level that your home uses every day. Lightning is by far the most dramatic source, but it is genuinely far from the only one. Utility switching, downed power lines, and ordinary grid problems all send surges through homes regularly. Even large appliances cycling on inside your own home can create smaller internal surges. These surges range from massive, instant spikes to small, repeated ones that quietly wear on electronics. A single large surge can destroy expensive equipment instantly and without any warning at all. Smaller surges slowly degrade your electronics until they fail far earlier than they otherwise should. Modern homes are full of sensitive electronics that are especially vulnerable to this kind of damage. Whole house surge protection guards against both the large spikes and the smaller, repeated surges. Understanding the real threat shows clearly why this protection matters for every modern home today.

Whole house surge protection works by intercepting surges right at the main panel. The surge protective device installs at or near the panel where the power first enters your home. When a surge arrives, the device diverts the excess voltage safely down to the grounding system. This all happens in a tiny fraction of a second, before the surge can ever reach your circuits. The device protects everything connected to your electrical system all at the very same time. This panel level protection is genuinely the first and most important line of defense for your home. It stops the large surges that would otherwise damage equipment throughout your entire home. A properly installed device handles the kinds of surges our frequent storms regularly produce. A quality device also has an indicator that shows when it is still protecting your home. We install the device correctly so that it provides the full protection you expect from it. Panel level protection is the essential foundation of any complete surge protection strategy.

Layered protection gives your home the strongest possible defense against damaging surges. Whole house protection at the panel stops the large surges from entering your home in the first place. Point of use protectors placed at sensitive electronics then add a valuable second layer of defense. That second layer handles the smaller surges that might slip past the panel device. Together, the two layers protect your home far better than either one could ever do alone. The panel device guards the whole home, while the point of use units guard your specific equipment. Sensitive electronics like computers, televisions, and home theaters especially benefit from this added layer. A point of use protector also filters the smaller everyday surges that the panel device passes through. We design layered protection that genuinely fits both your home and your particular equipment. We explain clearly how the two layers work together to fully guard your home. No single device catches every surge, which is exactly why the layered approach works so well. Layered protection is simply the most complete way to defend a modern home against surges.

Proper grounding is absolutely essential to making any surge protection actually work as intended. A surge protective device works by diverting the excess voltage into the grounding system. The grounding system then carries all of that excess voltage safely down into the earth. Without a proper, solid ground, the device has nowhere to send the surge it intercepts. That is exactly why proper grounding is so critical to effective surge protection. We always confirm the grounding before we ever install the surge protective device. We inspect the grounding electrode system that the entire protection scheme relies on. We correct any grounding problems that would otherwise weaken or defeat the protection. Our humid, salty coastal climate can corrode grounding connections steadily over time. A surge device installed on a poor ground gives only a false sense of security. We make absolutely sure the grounding fully supports the surge protection before we finish.

Our Gulf Coast location makes whole house surge protection especially valuable for homes here. Frequent storms and lightning send damaging surges through homes throughout our entire area. Each and every storm season brings the very real risk of a surge destroying your electronics. The cost of replacing fried appliances and ruined electronics far exceeds the cost of the protection. Whole house surge protection guards that significant investment for a relatively modest one time cost. We understand the specific surge threats our area faces and install protection against them. We install protection properly sized for the kinds of surges our storms regularly produce. We pair that protection with the solid grounding that actually makes it effective. We help you protect your home before the next storm arrives rather than afterward. Pairing surge protection with a service upgrade or panel work is an ideal time to add it. Surge protection is genuinely one of the smartest safeguards for any home along this coast.

Every whole house surge protection installation at Schultz Family Electric follows the same careful process. We begin by inspecting your panel and the grounding that all the protection ultimately relies on. We confirm the grounding is sound and correct any problems that we happen to find. We install the surge protective device at the panel correctly and securely. We explain how layered protection adds an extra layer of defense for your sensitive electronics. We recommend point of use protection only where it genuinely helps protect your equipment. You receive a fair, upfront price before any work begins, with no unwelcome surprises at the end. The diagnostic fee disappears the moment you choose us to perform the installation for you. We confirm the protection is installed correctly and working before we ever leave your home. We explain how to read the device indicator so you know your protection stays active. Every installation we complete carries our lifetime craftsmanship warranty, and a knowledgeable person always answers when you call.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Whole House Surge Protection in Angleton

Whole house surge protection installs inside the panel and depends on proper grounding, both of which demand real expertise. A licensed electrician knows how to install the device at the panel and confirm the grounding that makes it work. That license is earned through exams, supervised field hours, and proven competence, none of which an unlicensed installer can offer. In Angleton, panel work like this often requires a permit and an inspection that a licensed contractor handles. The danger of getting it wrong is real, since the work happens inside a live panel with high current. A licensed electrician also confirms the grounding is sound, since a surge device on a poor ground gives false security. Insurance and the protection of your investment both depend on the work being done correctly by a professional. Schultz Family Electric holds license number 748217 and backs every installation with a lifetime craftsmanship warranty. When the protection guards your whole home and installs in a live panel, the expertise of a licensed electrician is essential. For a safeguard your electronics depend on, that expertise is well worth it.

Commonly Asked Whole House Surge Protection Questions

Whole house surge protection guards every circuit in your home against the damaging surges that storms and the grid produce. These are the questions Angleton homeowners ask us most often before scheduling surge protection.

Whole house surge protection guards your home against damaging voltage spikes called surges. A surge is a sudden jump in voltage far above the normal level. Lightning is the most dramatic source of a damaging surge. Utility switching and grid problems also send surges into homes. Downed power lines can create surges as well. Even large appliances inside your home create smaller internal surges. The protection guards against both the large spikes and the smaller ones. It defends every circuit and everything connected to your electrical system.

The damage these surges cause is real and often expensive. A large surge can destroy electronics and appliances in an instant. Computers, televisions, and home theaters are especially vulnerable. Smaller surges slowly degrade electronics until they fail early. Modern homes are full of devices sensitive to this damage. The protection stops the surge before it reaches and harms your equipment. It guards the substantial investment you have made in your electronics. This protection matters for every modern home today.

Schultz Family Electric protects your home against the full range of surges. We install the device at the panel to stop large surges. We explain how layered protection guards your sensitive electronics. We pair the protection with the grounding that makes it work. We help you understand exactly what the protection guards against. We size the protection for the surges our storms produce. We explain the threat and the protection in plain terms. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Complete protection guards your home and your investment against surges.

Whole house surge protection and a power strip protector work at very different levels. A whole house device installs at the panel where power enters your home. A power strip protector sits at a single outlet protecting only what plugs into it. The whole house device guards every circuit in your home at once. A power strip guards only the few devices connected to it. The panel device stops large surges before they enter your home. A power strip handles only the smaller surges that reach that outlet. The two work at completely different scales of protection.

The difference matters for how well your home is protected. A power strip alone leaves most of your home unprotected. It guards nothing beyond the devices plugged into it. Your appliances, your wiring, and your hardwired equipment have no protection. A large surge can destroy them while the power strip protects only its outlet. Whole house protection guards everything, including what a power strip cannot. The best approach uses both as layers of defense. The panel device stops the big surges, and the strip adds local protection.

Schultz Family Electric installs the panel level protection a power strip cannot provide. We install the whole house device that guards every circuit. We explain how it differs from a simple power strip. We recommend point of use protectors as a second layer. We design the layered protection for complete coverage. We pair the protection with the grounding it needs. We explain the difference in plain terms so you understand. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Whole house protection guards your home in a way a power strip never could.

Living on the Gulf Coast makes surge protection especially worthwhile. Our area sees frequent storms and lightning throughout the year. Each storm brings the risk of a surge entering your home. Lightning is a leading cause of the most damaging surges. The grid problems that storms cause also send surges into homes. The frequency of these events here makes the threat constant. A home without protection is exposed to that threat every storm season. Surge protection guards against a danger our climate produces regularly.

The cost of going without protection can be significant here. A single surge can destroy thousands of dollars of electronics. Replacing fried appliances and devices far exceeds the protection cost. Storm season brings repeated chances for that kind of loss. The protection guards your investment for a modest one time cost. It pays for itself by preventing even one major loss. The frequency of surges here makes the protection a smart safeguard. For a Gulf Coast home, surge protection is well worth it.

Schultz Family Electric protects Gulf Coast homes against frequent surges. We understand the surge threats our storms and lightning produce. We install protection sized for the surges our area sees. We pair the protection with the grounding that makes it work. We help you protect your home before the next storm. We explain the value of the protection in plain terms. We never push more than your home genuinely needs. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Surge protection is a smart safeguard for any home along this coast.

Whole house surge protection installs at or near your main electrical panel. The panel is where the power from the utility enters your home. Installing the device there lets it guard every circuit at once. The device connects to the panel so it can intercept incoming surges. When a surge arrives, the device diverts it before it reaches your circuits. This central location is what makes the protection cover the whole home. Some devices install inside the panel, while others mount beside it. We install the device in the location that fits your panel.

The panel location is essential to how the protection works. Power enters the home through the panel and spreads to every circuit. A device at that point catches surges before they reach anything. Installing it anywhere else would leave parts of the home exposed. The device must also connect to the grounding at the panel. That grounding gives the diverted surge a path to the earth. The panel is therefore the natural and necessary place for the device. We install it there correctly and connect it to a sound ground.

Schultz Family Electric installs the device at your panel correctly. We install the surge device at or near the main panel. We connect it so it intercepts surges before they spread. We confirm the grounding at the panel supports the device. We install the device securely and to the code. We confirm it is working before we leave your home. We explain how and where it protects in plain terms. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Proper placement at the panel is what guards your whole home.

Whole house surge protection devices do not last forever, since they absorb surges over time. Each surge the device handles uses up some of its capacity. A device that absorbs many surges will eventually need replacement. The lifespan depends on how many and how large the surges it handles. A device in an area with frequent surges may wear out sooner. Our Gulf Coast storms send many surges through homes here. Most quality devices last for years of normal protection. The device gradually wears as it does its job over time.

Quality devices include a way to know when they need replacement. Many have an indicator light that shows the protection is active. When that indicator changes, it signals the device needs replacement. A device that has absorbed a major surge may need immediate replacement. We show you how to read the indicator on your device. Checking it periodically tells you the protection is still working. A worn out device provides no protection, so replacement matters. We help you keep your protection active and reliable.

Schultz Family Electric helps keep your surge protection active. We install a quality device with a protection indicator. We show you how to read the indicator after installation. We explain when the device will need replacement. We replace a worn device to restore your protection. We pay attention to the wear our frequent storms cause. We explain the lifespan in plain terms so you understand. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Keeping the device active is what keeps your home protected.

Whole house surge protection guards against most surges, but a direct lightning strike is extreme. The device is designed to handle the surges that travel through the electrical system. That includes the surges that lightning causes when it strikes nearby. A direct strike to your home delivers far more energy than any device absorbs fully. No surge protector can guarantee protection against a direct strike. What the protection does is guard against the far more common surges. Those include nearby strikes, utility switching, and grid problems. The device handles the surges that damage homes most often.

The distinction matters for understanding what protection provides. A direct lightning strike is a rare and extreme event. The far more common threat is the surge that travels through the lines. Lightning striking nearby sends a damaging surge into many homes. The device guards against these frequent, realistic threats effectively. Pairing the protection with good grounding improves the defense. A lightning protection system is a separate measure for direct strikes. We explain honestly what the surge protection does and does not cover.

Schultz Family Electric explains surge protection honestly. We install protection against the common surges that damage homes. We explain that no device fully stops a direct lightning strike. We guard against nearby strikes, switching, and grid surges. We pair the protection with sound grounding for the best defense. We never overstate what the protection can do. We explain the realistic threats it guards against in plain terms. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Honest protection guards your home against the surges it actually faces.

Whole house surge protection is well worth its modest cost for most homes. A single surge can destroy thousands of dollars of electronics and appliances. The protection costs a small fraction of replacing that equipment. It guards your entire home against a threat our storms produce regularly. The one time cost protects your investment for years of normal protection. Along the Gulf Coast, the frequency of surges makes it especially valuable. The protection pays for itself by preventing even one major loss. For the cost, it is one of the smartest safeguards available.

The value goes beyond just preventing a single large loss. The protection also guards against the smaller surges that wear on electronics. Those small surges shorten the life of your devices over time. Stopping them helps your electronics last as they should. The protection guards hardwired equipment that a power strip cannot. It defends your whole home rather than just a few outlets. The peace of mind through storm season has real value too. The modest cost delivers protection across your entire home.

Schultz Family Electric helps you get real value from surge protection. We install protection that guards your whole home at the panel. We explain how it protects your investment in plain terms. We size the protection for the surges our area produces. We pair it with the grounding that makes it effective. We never push more than your home genuinely needs. We back the work with our lifetime craftsmanship warranty. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Whole house surge protection delivers real value for a modest cost.

Installing whole house surge protection is not a safe project for a homeowner. The device installs at or inside the main panel, which carries very high current. Even with the main breaker off, the main lugs often remain energized. Working in the panel can cause a serious shock or a dangerous arc flash. The device must connect correctly to do its job of diverting surges. It also depends on a sound ground, which must be confirmed first. The work must meet the code and often requires a permit. The risk to your safety makes this no place for an amateur.

There are several ways a do it yourself installation can go wrong. Contact with the energized panel can cause severe injury. A poor connection leaves the device unable to divert surges properly. Installing it on a weak or corroded ground gives false protection. A device wired incorrectly may not protect your home at all. Missing the grounding problems leaves the protection ineffective. These mistakes are easy to make without training and experience. They often leave you believing you are protected when you are not.

Hiring Schultz Family Electric removes that risk entirely. Our licensed electricians work safely inside the live panel. We install the device correctly so it diverts surges as intended. We confirm the grounding that the protection depends on. We correct any grounding problems before installing the device. The work follows the code and carries our lifetime craftsmanship warranty. We confirm the protection is active before we leave your home. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Professional installation is what makes the protection genuinely reliable.
