“I had an excellent experience with this electrician from start to finish. Communication was prompt and professional, the work was completed on schedule, and the quality of craftsmanship was outstanding. They took the time to explain the process clearly, addressed all of my questions, and ensured everything was completed safely and up to code. The attention to detail, professionalism, and respect for my home truly stood out. I would confidently recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality electrical work. After a tree fell and took out the power line to our home, Brandon from Schultz Family Electric was at our house within the hour. After evaluating the damage, the news wasn’t great due to the age of our home, but Brandon immediately reassured us by saying, ‘Don’t worry. I got you.’ And he absolutely did. The entire housing setup needed to be upgraded, and he wasted no time getting started. He provided a precise and fair estimate, set us up with a generator for temporary power, and kept us informed every step of the way. Brandon and his coworker, Armando, completed the entire job in just one day. Their efficiency, professionalism, and dedication during such a stressful situation were truly exceptional. Brandon and Armando are genuinely good people: trustworthy, friendly, and honest. It’s rare to find contractors who combine such high-quality workmanship with integrity and compassion. I know I still have more projects to complete on my home, and Brandon will absolutely be the first person I call for any future electrical work.”

Would highly recommend! Brandon came to see us after hours the day we called to help us with our set up. We got a portable generator and had never owned any sort of generator before. He explained everything which we needed and any additional add-ons we might want for the future, but did not push us on ANYTHING. He showed us exactly the parts we needed on Amazon we could get ourselves to save a bit of money as well. Workers came out and were done in the span of 2 hours or so. They even did a little extra by routing the wiring so that the port outlet for the generator could be behind our fence as we asked for safety purposes. After all was done they showed us the steps on getting the generator running during outages and we did a test run so make sure all went well. They will also do maintenance and checks on your generator annually or bi-annually each year so to make sure all is well before hurricane season. Definitely will be my go to electrician.

Electrical Panel Installation Service

Electrical panel installation is the work of installing the central panel that receives power from the utility and distributes it safely to every circuit in your home. The panel, sometimes called the breaker box, is genuinely the heart of the entire electrical system in any home. It takes the incoming power from the service and carefully divides it among the branch circuits that feed your lights, outlets, and appliances. Every breaker in that panel protects its own circuit, tripping to cut power before a wire can overheat and start a fire. When a panel is outdated, undersized, or simply unsafe, the entire home is limited and put at real risk by it. Schultz Family Electric installs electrical panels with all the care and code knowledge that this critical job genuinely demands. We size the panel to your home’s real needs, install it correctly, and ground it properly for lasting safety. We replace the outdated and recalled panels that no longer protect a home the way they truly should. We handle the permits, the inspections, and the utility coordination that any panel installation requires. Understanding exactly what the panel does shows clearly why its installation deserves a licensed professional.

Knowing when a panel actually needs replacement is the important first step toward a safer home. A panel that has no open slots left forces unsafe workarounds and simply cannot accept any new circuits. A panel that feels warm, smells of burning, or shows any scorch marks is a clear and present danger. Breakers that trip frequently across the whole panel strongly suggest it is overloaded or beginning to fail. An outdated or recalled panel brand is by itself a strong reason to consider replacing it. Some older panels are widely known to be unreliable and even to fail to trip during an actual fault. A home that has added major appliances over the years may have outgrown its original panel entirely. A panel with rust, moisture, or visible corrosion inside has been compromised by the environment. We assess all of these signs honestly to determine whether a panel truly needs replacement. We never push a replacement that a home does not genuinely and demonstrably need. Recognizing these warning signs early is what prevents the failures and fires that a bad panel can cause.

Sizing the new panel correctly is absolutely essential to a home that works reliably day after day. The panel must have enough capacity to handle the home’s full electrical load with comfortable room to spare. A panel that is too small forces overloads, tripped breakers, and a great deal of constant frustration. We calculate the home’s actual load to determine the right capacity for the new panel we install. Most modern homes are well served by a two hundred amp panel with plenty of ample circuit space. We also carefully consider your future plans, since an EV charger or an addition adds significant load. The panel must have enough slots for all the current circuits plus genuine room to grow later. We size the panel so that the next addition does not require yet another full replacement. We explain the sizing in plain terms so you understand exactly the choice we are recommending. A properly sized panel gives your home reliable power along with real room for the future.

Choosing a quality, code compliant panel is every bit as important as sizing the panel correctly. We install panels from reputable manufacturers that are built to perform safely and reliably for decades. We deliberately avoid the outdated and recalled brands that some older homes around here still carry. Certain panel brands are genuinely notorious for breakers that fail to trip during an actual fault. Installing a quality panel is the real foundation of a safe and reliable electrical system. The panel must be rated for the service size and for all the loads it will eventually carry. We match the breakers carefully to the panel and to the specific circuits they protect. We never mix incompatible breakers and panels, which create poor connections and dangerous heat. A quality panel installed correctly is one that you can genuinely rely on for many years to come. Choosing the right panel protects both your home and every single person living inside it.

Proper grounding and bonding are absolutely critical parts of any electrical panel installation. The panel is the central point where the grounding and bonding of the whole system come together. We connect the grounding electrode system that physically ties the home to the earth itself. We bond the neutral and the ground correctly at the main panel exactly as the code requires. This grounding gives both fault current and surges a safe path away from people and equipment. A panel with improper grounding leaves the entire home without the proper protection it needs. We confirm the grounding and bonding are fully correct before the panel ever goes into service. We pay close attention to the corrosion that our humid coastal climate causes at these connections. Proper grounding at the panel protects against both dangerous shock and damaging electrical surges. We treat the grounding as the essential safety foundation that it genuinely and truly is.

Permits, inspections, and utility coordination are all an important part of a proper panel installation. A panel installation involves the main service equipment and therefore almost always requires a permit. The inspection confirms the new panel meets the current code before it ever goes into service. The utility must often disconnect and then reconnect the power for the work to proceed safely. We handle the permit, coordinate the inspection, and work directly with the utility on the timing. We plan the work carefully to keep your power off for the shortest possible time. We stage the materials and prepare everything so the actual outage stays brief. We pull permits and follow the code because a panel is simply too important to do otherwise. We coordinate every part of the process so the installation goes smoothly from start to finish. We keep you informed throughout the entire job so that there are never any surprises. Handling all of these steps correctly is a real part of doing the job right.

Every electrical panel installation at Schultz Family Electric follows the same careful, thorough process from start to finish. We begin by calculating your home’s load and carefully assessing the condition of your current panel. We then size the new panel to your real needs with genuine room for future growth. We install a quality, code compliant panel from a reputable and trusted manufacturer. We ground and bond the panel correctly for the full protection your home requires. We pull the required permit and coordinate both the inspection and the utility timing. You receive a fair, upfront price before any work begins, with no unwelcome surprises at the end. The diagnostic fee disappears the moment you choose us to perform the installation for you. We minimize the time your power is off and keep the entire work area clean. Every installation we complete carries our lifetime craftsmanship warranty, and a knowledgeable person always answers when you call.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Electrical Panel Installation in Angleton

A panel installation involves the main service equipment, high current, and critical grounding, all of which demand real expertise. A licensed electrician knows how to size the panel, install it safely, and ground it correctly to protect the whole home. That license is earned through exams, supervised field hours, and proven competence, none of which an unlicensed installer can offer. In Angleton, a panel installation requires a permit, an inspection, and utility coordination that only a licensed contractor can handle. The danger of getting it wrong is severe, since the panel carries enough current to cause serious injury or a fire. A licensed electrician also recognizes the recalled and unsafe panel brands and replaces them with quality equipment. Insurance coverage often depends on this work being permitted and performed to code by a qualified professional. Schultz Family Electric holds license number 748217 and backs every installation with a lifetime craftsmanship warranty. When the entire home’s power runs through the panel, the expertise of a licensed electrician is what keeps it safe. For the heart of your electrical system, that expertise is simply not optional.

Commonly Asked Electrical Panel Installation Questions

Your electrical panel distributes power to every circuit and protects your home, so its installation is one of the most important electrical jobs. These are the questions Angleton homeowners ask us most often before scheduling panel installation:

Several clear signs indicate that an electrical panel needs replacement. A panel with no open slots cannot accept new circuits and forces unsafe workarounds. A panel that feels warm or shows scorch marks is a serious hazard. A burning smell from the panel is an urgent warning sign. Breakers that trip frequently across the panel suggest it is overloaded or failing. An outdated or recalled panel brand is a strong reason to replace it. Rust or corrosion inside the panel means it has been compromised. These signs point to a panel that is no longer safe or adequate.

The age and brand of the panel also matter a great deal. Some older panels are known to be unreliable and even dangerous. Certain brands have documented histories of breakers failing to trip. A panel that is decades old may simply be at the end of its life. A home that has added major appliances may have outgrown its panel. Difficulty finding compatible breakers signals an obsolete panel. We recognize these problem panels and explain the risks honestly. The decision rests on both the condition and the brand of the panel.

Schultz Family Electric tells you honestly whether your panel needs replacement. We inspect the panel for heat, corrosion, and signs of failure. We identify the outdated and recalled brands that pose real risks. We assess whether the panel has the capacity your home needs. We explain what we find in plain, honest terms. We recommend replacement only when it is genuinely warranted. We never push a replacement your home does not need. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. An honest assessment tells you exactly what your panel needs.

The right panel size depends on your home’s electrical load and your plans. The panel must handle the total load of your home with room to spare. A panel that is too small forces overloads and tripped breakers. Most modern homes are well served by a two hundred amp panel. A smaller home with a modest load might need less capacity. A home with heavy loads or future plans may need more. The only way to know for certain is a load calculation. We calculate your load to determine the right size for your home.

Your future plans factor heavily into the sizing decision. Adding an EV charger demands significant additional capacity. A home addition or a workshop increases the load as well. A pool, a hot tub, or new electric appliances all add demand. We consider these plans so the panel serves you for years. The panel also needs enough slots for current and future circuits. Sizing for growth avoids needing another replacement soon. We size the panel with both your present and future needs in mind.

Schultz Family Electric sizes your new panel correctly. We calculate your home’s actual electrical load. We consider your future plans for added loads. We recommend a capacity that serves you with room to grow. We ensure the panel has enough slots for future circuits. We explain the sizing in plain terms so you understand it. We never oversize a panel just to inflate the cost. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A properly sized panel gives you reliable power and room for the future.

Replacing an electrical panel typically takes a single day for most homes. The actual power outage during the work is usually shorter than the full job. We coordinate with the utility to keep that outage as brief as possible. A straightforward panel replacement is often completed within that day. More complex jobs, like relocating the panel, take additional time. The condition of the existing wiring and service affects the timeline. We give you a realistic estimate before the work begins. Every home is different, and we account for those differences.

Several factors influence how long the replacement takes. The utility’s schedule for disconnecting and reconnecting power matters. The condition of the service entrance and meter base plays a role. Relocating the panel to a new spot adds significant time. Bringing old wiring up to code can extend the work. Permitting and inspection scheduling affects the overall timeline. We plan for these factors so the job stays on track. We keep you informed as the work progresses.

Schultz Family Electric replaces panels efficiently and carefully. We coordinate the utility and the inspection for smooth timing. We complete as much preparation as possible before the outage. We work efficiently to restore power as quickly as we can. We test the new panel fully before energizing it. We keep the work area clean and minimize disruption. We give you a realistic timeline before we begin. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A well planned replacement keeps your downtime short.

Replacing an electrical panel is not a safe project for a homeowner. The work involves the main service equipment carrying very high current. The main lugs often remain energized even with the main breaker off. A mistake can cause severe injury, death, or a dangerous arc flash. The panel must be sized, installed, and grounded correctly to be safe. The work requires a permit, an inspection, and utility coordination. These are not steps a homeowner can handle alone. The risk to your safety is simply far too high.

There are many ways a do it yourself panel replacement can go wrong. Contact with the energized service equipment can be fatal. Improper grounding leaves the whole home without protection. An undersized panel forces overloads and tripped breakers. Incompatible breakers create poor connections and heat. Failing to coordinate with the utility can leave you without power. A failed inspection means the work was not done right. These risks make panel work the domain of professionals.

Hiring Schultz Family Electric removes that risk entirely. Our licensed electricians work safely with the high current service. We size, install, and ground the panel correctly. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection and utility. We install a quality, code compliant panel that protects your home. The work carries our lifetime craftsmanship warranty. You keep your insurance coverage intact. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. That safety and assurance are well worth a single phone call.

A panel replacement and a service upgrade are related but distinct projects. A panel replacement swaps out the panel while keeping the same service capacity. A service upgrade increases the total power your home draws from the utility. Sometimes the two happen together, and sometimes they are separate. Replacing a failing panel without changing capacity is a panel replacement. Increasing from one hundred to two hundred amps is a service upgrade. The right project depends on what your home actually needs. We help you understand which one fits your situation.

The distinction comes down to capacity versus condition. A panel in poor condition may need replacement even if its capacity is fine. A home needing more power needs a service upgrade, often with a new panel. An undersized panel that is also failing calls for both at once. The service upgrade involves the meter base and entrance conductors too. A simple panel replacement may not require those changes. We evaluate your home to determine the right scope. We explain whether you need a replacement, an upgrade, or both.

Schultz Family Electric determines the right project for your home. We assess both the condition and the capacity of your panel. We recommend a panel replacement when condition is the issue. We recommend a service upgrade when you need more capacity. We do both together when your home needs it. We explain the difference in plain terms so you understand. We never recommend more work than your home requires. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. The right project gives you a safe panel with the capacity you need.

Yes, certain electrical panel brands are known to be unsafe. Some older panels have documented histories of serious problems. Certain brands are notorious for breakers that fail to trip during a fault. A breaker that does not trip leaves its circuit unprotected against fire. Other panels have problems with their connections overheating over time. These problem panels are a real concern in many older homes. Finding compatible, safe breakers for them can be difficult or impossible. We recognize these brands and explain the risks honestly.

The danger of these panels is that they fail silently. A panel that looks fine may have breakers that will not trip. That failure only reveals itself when a fault occurs and the breaker does nothing. By then, the unprotected circuit may have already overheated. This hidden danger is why these panels are such a concern. Replacing a known problem panel removes that hidden risk. We never simply add breakers to a panel we know to be unsafe. We explain why replacement is the safer path.

Schultz Family Electric recognizes and replaces unsafe panels. We identify the outdated and recalled brands known to be dangerous. We explain the specific risks of your panel honestly. We recommend replacement when a panel is genuinely unsafe. We install a quality, code compliant panel in its place. We never leave a home protected by an unreliable panel. We explain everything in plain terms so you understand the risk. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Replacing an unsafe panel removes a hidden and serious hazard.

Yes, your power will be off during part of a panel installation. The utility must disconnect power so we can safely replace the panel. We coordinate the timing of that disconnection with the utility in advance. The goal is to keep the outage as short as the work allows. Most of the preparation happens before the power is turned off. We stage materials and complete what we can while power remains on. Then the utility disconnects, we perform the work, and power is restored. Careful planning keeps the actual outage to a minimum.

There are a few things to expect around the outage. You will want to plan for the time your home is without power. Refrigerators and freezers stay cold if you keep the doors closed. Sensitive electronics can be unplugged before the work as a precaution. We let you know the expected outage window so you can prepare. The utility controls the exact reconnection time on their end. We schedule the work to align the utility and inspection efficiently. Clear communication keeps the day predictable for your household.

Schultz Family Electric manages the outage to minimize the impact. We coordinate closely with the utility for the timing. We complete as much preparation as possible before the outage. We work efficiently during the outage to restore power promptly. We test the new panel fully before energizing it. We keep you informed throughout so there are no surprises. We treat your home and your time with respect. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A well coordinated installation keeps your downtime short.

The cost to install an electrical panel depends on several factors specific to your home. The size of the panel affects the price, since a larger panel costs more. The condition of the existing service and wiring plays a role in the work. Replacing a corroded meter base or service entrance adds to the project. Relocating the panel to a new location increases the cost as well. Bringing old wiring up to code can add to the total. Permit, inspection, and utility coordination are part of the cost. Every situation is different, so an accurate price requires evaluating your setup.

We believe in clear, upfront pricing for panel installation. After assessing your panel and service, we explain exactly what the job requires. We lay out the cost of the panel, the labor, and any related work. We tell you honestly whether the service entrance or wiring needs attention. There are no surprise charges added after the work is done. We never pad the job with work your home does not need. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Our honest pricing reflects our commitment to being your electrician for life.

Schultz Family Electric provides fair pricing for safe panel installation. We evaluate your panel, your service, and the scope of the work. We explain each part of the job and its cost in plain terms. We confirm whether the service entrance or wiring needs work. We never cut corners on the quality of the panel or the grounding. The lifetime craftsmanship warranty reflects our confidence in the work. Because we are local, our response is fast and our pricing fair. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A properly installed panel is worth the investment in safety and reliability.
