“I had an excellent experience with this electrician from start to finish. Communication was prompt and professional, the work was completed on schedule, and the quality of craftsmanship was outstanding. They took the time to explain the process clearly, addressed all of my questions, and ensured everything was completed safely and up to code. The attention to detail, professionalism, and respect for my home truly stood out. I would confidently recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality electrical work. After a tree fell and took out the power line to our home, Brandon from Schultz Family Electric was at our house within the hour. After evaluating the damage, the news wasn’t great due to the age of our home, but Brandon immediately reassured us by saying, ‘Don’t worry. I got you.’ And he absolutely did. The entire housing setup needed to be upgraded, and he wasted no time getting started. He provided a precise and fair estimate, set us up with a generator for temporary power, and kept us informed every step of the way. Brandon and his coworker, Armando, completed the entire job in just one day. Their efficiency, professionalism, and dedication during such a stressful situation were truly exceptional. Brandon and Armando are genuinely good people: trustworthy, friendly, and honest. It’s rare to find contractors who combine such high-quality workmanship with integrity and compassion. I know I still have more projects to complete on my home, and Brandon will absolutely be the first person I call for any future electrical work.”

Would highly recommend! Brandon came to see us after hours the day we called to help us with our set up. We got a portable generator and had never owned any sort of generator before. He explained everything which we needed and any additional add-ons we might want for the future, but did not push us on ANYTHING. He showed us exactly the parts we needed on Amazon we could get ourselves to save a bit of money as well. Workers came out and were done in the span of 2 hours or so. They even did a little extra by routing the wiring so that the port outlet for the generator could be behind our fence as we asked for safety purposes. After all was done they showed us the steps on getting the generator running during outages and we did a test run so make sure all went well. They will also do maintenance and checks on your generator annually or bi-annually each year so to make sure all is well before hurricane season. Definitely will be my go to electrician.

Garage Wiring Service

Garage wiring is the work of bringing safe, adequate power to a garage so it can serve as more than just a place to park the car. A modern garage is often a workshop, a home gym, a laundry area, or the home of an EV charger, and each of those uses demands real power. Many garages were originally wired with only a single circuit and a couple of outlets, which falls far short of these modern needs. Schultz Family Electric handles garage wiring with the same care and code knowledge that we bring to every other job. We add the circuits, the outlets, the lighting, and the dedicated lines that a genuinely working garage requires. We size the wiring carefully to the loads you actually plan to run, from power tools all the way to a vehicle charger. We address the GFCI protection the code requires in a garage, since it is a damp and demanding environment. We plan the wiring thoughtfully around how you intend to use the space, not merely how it happened to be built. Understanding everything that proper garage wiring involves shows clearly why it deserves a licensed professional. A well wired garage becomes one of the most useful spaces in the entire home.

Adequate circuits and outlets are truly the heart of a properly wired and functional garage. A garage with only a single circuit and two outlets simply cannot support the demands of modern use. Power tools, a refrigerator, a freezer, and various chargers all end up competing on far too few circuits. We add the circuits a working garage needs so that the loads never overwhelm one single line. We place the outlets exactly where you actually need them, along the workbenches and around the walls. We help you avoid the constant frustration of extension cords stretched across the floor to reach power. We size each of the circuits to the real loads you plan to run in the space. We always confirm the panel can support the new circuits before we ever add them. We plan the outlet placement carefully around how you genuinely use the garage day to day. Adequate circuits and well placed outlets turn a bare, limited garage into a genuinely usable space.

GFCI protection is a required and genuinely important part of any garage wiring installation. A garage is considered a damp location where moisture and electricity can easily come into contact. The code requires GFCI protection on the receptacles in a garage specifically for this reason of safety. A GFCI senses current leaking to ground and cuts the power in a small fraction of a second. That protection guards against shock in an environment where the risk is unfortunately very real. We install all of the GFCI protection that the code requires throughout the entire garage. We use the right devices for the location and confirm each one trips correctly before we finish. We never skip this protection, since a garage is exactly the kind of place where it matters most. A single GFCI can protect several downstream outlets when it is wired correctly through the load terminals. We explain the GFCI requirements in plain terms so you fully understand why they are there. Proper, tested GFCI protection is what keeps a busy working garage safe to use every day.

Garage lighting completely transforms how usable and pleasant the space actually is to work in. Many garages have only a single dim bulb that leaves the entire space dark, shadowed, and frustrating. Good lighting makes a workshop genuinely safer and makes the whole garage far more pleasant to use. We install bright, efficient LED lighting that fills the garage evenly with clean, useful light. We carefully place the lighting to eliminate the shadows that fall over workbenches and other key areas. We add the switching that makes controlling the lighting convenient and intuitive for you. We can add focused lighting over specific work areas where you happen to need it the most. Bright, even lighting is what makes the garage a space you genuinely want to spend time in. We always plan the lighting around the specific tasks you actually perform in your garage. Good lighting is one of the simplest upgrades that consistently makes the biggest real difference.

Dedicated circuits serve the heavy equipment that a modern, working garage so often holds. A workshop full of power tools needs circuits that can comfortably handle the heavy load. A table saw, an air compressor, or a welder draws heavy current that genuinely demands its own circuit. A refrigerator or freezer benefits greatly from a dedicated circuit so a trip elsewhere never spoils the contents. An EV charger requires a substantial dedicated circuit carefully sized to the charger it serves. We identify all the equipment that needs its own circuit and size each one of them correctly. We always confirm the panel can support these dedicated loads before we ever add them. We run the dedicated circuits cleanly to exactly where the equipment will ultimately sit. We never overload a shared circuit with the kind of equipment that genuinely needs its own line. Dedicated circuits are what keep your heavy garage equipment running both reliably and safely for years.

A detached garage adds real considerations that a simple attached garage does not present. A detached garage needs power run all the way from the main house, very often through a subpanel. That subpanel requires its own properly sized feeder along with its own grounding electrode system. The wiring out to a detached building must meet the specific code requirements for a separate structure. We handle the feeder, the subpanel, and the grounding that a detached garage genuinely requires. We size the feeder carefully for the total load that the garage will eventually carry. We run the wiring safely, whether it goes underground or overhead, fully to the code. We install the grounding that the separate structure requires for the safety of everyone using it. The neutrals and grounds must also be kept properly separated in that detached garage subpanel. This work gives a detached garage reliable, ample power without ever overloading the main house. We design the entire system thoughtfully so it serves the detached garage well for many years.

Every garage wiring job at Schultz Family Electric follows the same careful, thorough process from start to finish. We begin by fully understanding how you currently use or plan to use your garage space. We add the circuits, the outlets, and the dedicated lines that the space genuinely needs to function. We install all the GFCI protection that the code requires throughout the entire garage. We add bright, efficient lighting that finally makes the whole space genuinely usable. We handle the subpanel and the grounding for a detached garage whenever it is needed. You receive a fair, upfront price before any work begins, with no unwelcome surprises at the end. The diagnostic fee disappears the moment you choose us to perform the work for you. We pull all required permits and coordinate the inspections whenever the scope of the work calls for it. Every installation we complete carries our lifetime craftsmanship warranty, and a knowledgeable person always answers when you call.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for Garage Wiring in Angleton

Garage wiring involves circuits, dedicated loads, GFCI protection, and sometimes a subpanel, all of which demand real expertise. A licensed electrician knows how to size the circuits, install the protection, and handle a detached garage correctly. That license is earned through exams, supervised field hours, and proven competence, none of which an unlicensed installer can offer. In Angleton, garage wiring often requires a permit and an inspection that only a licensed contractor can handle. The danger of getting it wrong is real, since an overloaded circuit or missing GFCI creates a fire and shock risk. A licensed electrician confirms the panel can support the new load rather than overloading it blindly. A detached garage adds feeder and grounding requirements that a professional understands and handles correctly. Schultz Family Electric holds license number 748217 and backs every installation with a lifetime craftsmanship warranty. When your garage holds heavy equipment and a damp environment, the expertise of a licensed electrician keeps it safe. For a space you use and work in daily, that expertise is well worth it.

Commonly Asked Garage Wiring Questions

Garage wiring turns a bare garage into a fully usable workshop, gym, or charging space with the circuits and protection it needs. These are the questions Angleton homeowners ask us most often before scheduling garage wiring:

The number of circuits a garage needs depends on how you use the space. A garage used only for parking needs far fewer circuits than a workshop. A general purpose garage benefits from several circuits for outlets and lighting. A workshop with power tools needs more circuits to handle the heavier loads. Heavy equipment like a welder or compressor often needs its own dedicated circuit. An EV charger adds a substantial dedicated circuit of its own. The right number comes from understanding how you use the garage. We plan the circuits around your actual needs for the space.

The key is matching the circuits to the loads you will run. A single circuit cannot handle a workshop, a refrigerator, and a charger at once. Spreading the loads across enough circuits prevents overloads and tripped breakers. Heavy equipment that needs its own circuit should never share with other loads. General outlets and lighting can share circuits sized for their load. We calculate the loads and plan the circuits accordingly. We confirm the panel can support the circuits we add. The right number of circuits keeps the garage working reliably.

Schultz Family Electric plans the right circuits for your garage. We discuss how you use or plan to use the space. We identify the loads that need their own dedicated circuits. We plan enough general circuits for outlets and lighting. We size each circuit to the loads it will carry. We confirm your panel can support the new circuits. We explain the plan in plain terms so you understand it. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. The right circuits turn your garage into a fully usable space.

Yes, garage outlets require GFCI protection under the code. A garage is considered a damp location where moisture and electricity can meet. That environment makes the shock risk real, which is why the code requires GFCI. A GFCI cuts power instantly when it senses current leaking to ground. This protection guards anyone using the outlets in a damp garage. The requirement applies to the receptacles throughout the garage. We install the GFCI protection the code requires in every garage. Skipping this protection is both unsafe and against the code.

The protection is especially important given how a garage is used. People often use power tools and equipment with wet or damp hands. The concrete floor can be damp, which increases the shock risk. Water from a vehicle or a leak can reach an outlet. A GFCI protects against the shock these conditions can cause. A single GFCI can protect several outlets when wired correctly. We wire the protection so it reaches every outlet that needs it. This protection is a key part of a safe garage.

Schultz Family Electric installs GFCI protection throughout your garage. We install the protection the code requires on the receptacles. We use the right devices for the garage environment. We wire a GFCI to protect downstream outlets where appropriate. We test every device to confirm it trips correctly. We never skip this protection, since the garage needs it. We explain the requirements in plain terms so you understand. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Proper GFCI protection keeps your garage safe to use.

Yes, a garage is a common and practical place to add an EV charger circuit. The charger needs a dedicated circuit sized to its requirements. That circuit is typically a 240 volt line carrying significant current. We confirm your panel can support the charger before we install it. A load calculation tells us honestly whether the panel has room. When the panel has capacity, we add the dedicated charger circuit. When it does not, we explain the options like an upgrade. The garage is often the ideal location for convenient charging.

Adding a charger circuit involves a few key steps. We read the charger’s requirements to size the circuit correctly. We size the wire and breaker for the continuous charging load. We run the circuit cleanly to the charger location in the garage. We install the charger hardwired or on a dedicated outlet. We ground and protect the circuit to the code. We confirm the panel supports the load before installing. This careful work gives you safe, reliable charging at home.

Schultz Family Electric installs EV charger circuits in garages. We perform a load calculation to confirm your panel can handle it. We size the circuit to the charger’s continuous load. We run the circuit cleanly to the charger location. We install the charger hardwired or on a dedicated outlet. We ground and protect the circuit for your safety. We explain the work and any panel needs in plain terms. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A properly installed charger circuit gives you reliable home charging.

Many older garages were wired with just one or two outlets by design. At the time they were built, a garage was simply a place to park. The wiring reflected that limited use with minimal circuits and outlets. A single outlet was considered enough for a light and an occasional tool. Modern use of a garage has far outgrown that original wiring. A workshop, a gym, or a charger needs much more than one outlet. This is why so many homeowners find their garage underpowered. The original wiring simply was not built for today’s needs.

The limited wiring becomes a real problem with modern use. One outlet forces extension cords stretched across the floor. Too few circuits cause overloads and tripped breakers. Heavy equipment cannot run on the inadequate wiring. The frustration grows as the garage takes on more uses. The solution is adding the circuits and outlets the space now needs. We assess the existing wiring and the panel capacity. We add what the garage requires for how you use it today.

Schultz Family Electric brings your garage wiring up to modern needs. We assess the existing single circuit and the panel capacity. We add the circuits and outlets your use of the garage requires. We place outlets where you actually need them along the walls. We size the new circuits to the loads you plan to run. We install GFCI protection the garage environment requires. We explain the plan in plain terms so you understand it. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Adequate wiring finally makes your garage genuinely usable.

Adding power to a detached garage involves running a feeder from the main house. The feeder carries power from the main panel to a subpanel in the garage. That subpanel then distributes power to the garage’s circuits. The feeder must be sized for the total load the garage will carry. The wiring runs either underground or overhead to the detached building. A detached building requires its own grounding electrode system. The neutrals and grounds must be kept separate in the subpanel. This work gives the garage reliable power without overloading the house.

The project involves several important steps done correctly. We calculate the load the garage will carry to size the feeder. We confirm the main panel can support the new feeder. We run the feeder safely underground or overhead to the code. We install a subpanel sized for the garage’s circuits. We install the grounding electrode system the separate building requires. We separate the neutrals and grounds in the subpanel correctly. This careful work powers the garage safely and reliably.

Schultz Family Electric powers detached garages correctly. We calculate the load and size the feeder for the garage. We confirm the main panel can support the new feeder. We run the feeder safely to the detached building. We install a subpanel with neutrals and grounds separated. We install the grounding the separate structure requires. We explain the work in plain terms so you understand it. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A properly powered detached garage serves you reliably for years.

Upgrading your garage wiring is well worth it for most homeowners. A properly wired garage becomes one of the most useful spaces in the home. It can serve as a workshop, a gym, a laundry area, or a charging space. The upgrade ends the frustration of extension cords and tripped breakers. It adds the safety of proper GFCI protection in a damp environment. Good lighting makes the space genuinely pleasant and safe to use. The added function and safety make the investment worthwhile. A well wired garage also adds value and appeal to your home.

The value of the upgrade depends on how you use the space. A garage that is just for parking may need only modest wiring. A garage that serves as a workshop benefits greatly from proper circuits. Adding an EV charger makes the upgrade nearly essential. The upgrade prevents the overloads and hazards of inadequate wiring. It turns a limited space into one that truly works for you. We help you weigh the upgrade against how you use the garage. We never push more than your situation genuinely needs.

Schultz Family Electric helps you get real value from your garage. We discuss how you use or plan to use the space. We recommend the wiring that matches your actual needs. We add the circuits, outlets, lighting, and protection that help. We never push more than your garage genuinely requires. We explain the value of the upgrade in plain terms. We back the work with our lifetime craftsmanship warranty. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A well wired garage delivers real function, safety, and value.

Garage wiring often requires a permit, depending on the scope of the work. Adding new circuits to a garage typically requires a permit. Wiring a detached garage with a feeder and subpanel certainly does. Adding an EV charger circuit requires a permit as well. Minor work like replacing a single outlet may not. The permit ensures the work is reviewed against the current code. A licensed contractor pulls the permit and coordinates the inspection. We determine whether your garage wiring requires one.

The permit and inspection process protects you in real ways. It confirms the circuits are sized correctly for the loads. It verifies the GFCI protection is present and functional. It ensures a detached garage subpanel is wired correctly. It creates a documented record that the work met the code. That record matters when you sell your home later. It also supports your homeowner’s insurance coverage. The inspection catches any issue before it becomes a hazard.

Schultz Family Electric handles the permit process when required. We determine whether your garage wiring needs a permit. We pull the permit before that work begins when one is needed. We perform the work to the full standard of the code. We coordinate the inspection so the timing works smoothly. We are fully licensed under number 748217 when a permit is required. We stand behind the work with our lifetime craftsmanship warranty. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Handling the paperwork correctly is part of doing the job right.

The best lighting for a garage workshop is bright, even, and energy efficient. LED lighting is the clear choice for a modern workshop for several reasons. LED fixtures produce bright, clean light that makes detailed work safe and easy. They use far less energy than the older fixtures many garages still have. They also last for years, which matters in a space where you work regularly. The goal is even coverage that eliminates the shadows over your work areas. A single dim bulb simply cannot light a workshop properly. We plan the lighting to fill the space and light the tasks you perform.

The placement and type of lighting matter as much as the brightness. Overhead LED fixtures provide the general light that fills the whole garage. Focused lighting over a workbench eliminates the shadows where you work closely. The lighting should reach into the corners and over the equipment you use. Good switching makes controlling the lighting convenient as you work. Cool, bright light helps you see detail clearly in a workshop. We balance the general and task lighting for a well lit space. The right combination makes the workshop both safer and more pleasant.

Schultz Family Electric lights your garage workshop for real usability. We install bright, efficient LED lighting throughout the garage. We add focused lighting over the workbenches and key work areas. We place the fixtures to eliminate shadows where you work. We add convenient switching to control the lighting easily. We choose light that helps you see detail clearly and safely. We plan the lighting around the tasks you actually perform. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Bright, even lighting transforms a garage workshop into a space you enjoy using.
