“I had an excellent experience with this electrician from start to finish. Communication was prompt and professional, the work was completed on schedule, and the quality of craftsmanship was outstanding. They took the time to explain the process clearly, addressed all of my questions, and ensured everything was completed safely and up to code. The attention to detail, professionalism, and respect for my home truly stood out. I would confidently recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality electrical work. After a tree fell and took out the power line to our home, Brandon from Schultz Family Electric was at our house within the hour. After evaluating the damage, the news wasn’t great due to the age of our home, but Brandon immediately reassured us by saying, ‘Don’t worry. I got you.’ And he absolutely did. The entire housing setup needed to be upgraded, and he wasted no time getting started. He provided a precise and fair estimate, set us up with a generator for temporary power, and kept us informed every step of the way. Brandon and his coworker, Armando, completed the entire job in just one day. Their efficiency, professionalism, and dedication during such a stressful situation were truly exceptional. Brandon and Armando are genuinely good people: trustworthy, friendly, and honest. It’s rare to find contractors who combine such high-quality workmanship with integrity and compassion. I know I still have more projects to complete on my home, and Brandon will absolutely be the first person I call for any future electrical work.”

Would highly recommend! Brandon came to see us after hours the day we called to help us with our set up. We got a portable generator and had never owned any sort of generator before. He explained everything which we needed and any additional add-ons we might want for the future, but did not push us on ANYTHING. He showed us exactly the parts we needed on Amazon we could get ourselves to save a bit of money as well. Workers came out and were done in the span of 2 hours or so. They even did a little extra by routing the wiring so that the port outlet for the generator could be behind our fence as we asked for safety purposes. After all was done they showed us the steps on getting the generator running during outages and we did a test run so make sure all went well. They will also do maintenance and checks on your generator annually or bi-annually each year so to make sure all is well before hurricane season. Definitely will be my go to electrician.

EV Charger Installation Service

EV charger installation is the electrical work that brings reliable, fast charging for your electric vehicle right into your home. As more drivers make the switch to electric, the home charger has quickly become an essential part of the modern electrical system. Charging from a standard household outlet is slow, often adding only a few miles of range per hour even overnight. A dedicated Level 2 charger completely transforms that experience, delivering a full charge in a fraction of the time. That speed comes from a 240 volt circuit sized to the charger, much like the circuit that feeds an electric range. Schultz Family Electric installs EV chargers on properly sized, dedicated circuits matched to your specific vehicle and charger. We start every job by calculating your home’s electrical load, because adding a charger is a significant new demand on the system. We confirm your panel can genuinely support the charger before we install anything, rather than overloading your existing service. We then size the circuit, run the wiring, and mount the charger in the spot that serves you best. Understanding what a proper EV charger installation actually involves shows clearly why it deserves a licensed professional.

The difference between the charging levels explains why a proper installation matters so much for an electric vehicle. Level 1 charging uses an ordinary 120 volt household outlet along with the cord that comes packaged with the car. That approach works in a pinch, but it charges slowly and can take well over a day for a full battery. Level 2 charging uses a 240 volt circuit, the very same voltage that powers a clothes dryer or an electric range. A Level 2 charger adds many times the range per hour that Level 1 charging can ever manage. For most drivers, Level 2 is the practical and obvious choice for charging reliably at home overnight. The charger itself draws significant current, often somewhere between thirty and sixty amps depending on the model. That heavy, sustained load is exactly why the circuit behind it must be sized and installed correctly. We help you understand the charging levels and choose the option that fits your driving habits and your vehicle. Getting the level right is the first step toward charging that actually meets your daily needs.

A load calculation is the essential first step that any responsible EV charger installation always begins with. An EV charger is one of the largest single loads a modern home can add, and it runs for hours at a stretch. Adding that load without first checking the panel can overload the system and create a genuine fire hazard. We calculate your home’s existing electrical demand and carefully compare it against your total service capacity. That calculation tells us honestly whether your panel can support the new charger exactly as it stands today. A home with two hundred amp service and a modest existing load often has plenty of room for a charger. A home already running near its capacity may well need a service upgrade before a charger can be added. We never skip this step, because adding a heavy charger to an already strained panel is genuinely dangerous. The load calculation gives a clear, factual answer rather than a hopeful guess that could put your home at risk. It protects both your home and the substantial investment you have made in your vehicle.

Sizing the circuit correctly is precisely what makes an EV charger both fast to use and safe to own. The charger carries a nameplate that specifies the exact circuit it requires, and we follow that specification precisely. We size the wire to carry the charger’s full current continuously, hour after hour, without ever overheating. Because a charger runs for such long stretches, the code requires sizing the circuit for that continuous load. We then select a breaker carefully matched to both the charger and the conductor we have installed. A hardwired charger connects directly to the circuit for a clean, permanent, and tidy installation. A plug in charger instead uses a dedicated outlet, often a heavy duty 240 volt receptacle rated for the load. We install whichever type your particular charger uses, matched precisely to its stated requirements. The connections all carry heavy, sustained current, so we make every single one secure and tight. A properly sized circuit charges your vehicle quickly while keeping your home completely safe.

Choosing the right location for the charger combines everyday convenience with practical electrical sense. Most homeowners want the charger mounted in the garage, positioned where the cord reaches the car easily and naturally. The distance from the panel to that chosen location directly affects both the wiring run and the overall cost. A charger placed near the panel is simpler and less expensive to install than one located far across the home. We help you find a spot that is both genuinely convenient to use and practical to wire properly. An outdoor or carport installation calls for weatherproof, corrosion resistant equipment suited to our coastal climate. We mount the charger securely at a comfortable height that makes daily use effortless. We route the wiring cleanly along the safest and most practical path available to us. We think carefully about how you park and plug in, so the finished installation feels completely natural. Good placement is what makes charging your vehicle effortless every single day of the year.

Panel capacity sometimes requires real attention before a charger can be added to a home safely. Many older homes around here were built with electrical service that modern demands have already stretched quite thin. Adding a heavy EV charger to such a panel without any changes invites overloads and constant tripped breakers. When the panel lacks the needed capacity, we explain the available options honestly rather than forcing an unsafe install. A service upgrade increases your total capacity and creates the room a charger needs to run safely. A load management device is another option, automatically reducing charging when other large loads happen to run. These smart devices let a charger share the existing capacity safely in many homes. We carefully evaluate which approach fits your particular situation, your home, and your budget. We never push an upgrade you do not actually need, but we will not overload your panel either. The right solution gives you reliable charging on an electrical system that can truly support it.

Every EV charger installation at Schultz Family Electric follows the same careful, thorough process from start to finish. We begin by calculating your home’s load and confirming that your panel can genuinely support the new charger. We read the charger’s requirements closely and size the circuit precisely to its continuous load. We work with you to choose a convenient, practical location for mounting the charger. We run the wiring cleanly and install the charger either hardwired or on a dedicated outlet. We ground and protect the circuit fully to the code for your ongoing safety. You receive a fair, upfront price before any work begins, with no unwelcome surprises waiting at the end. The diagnostic fee disappears the moment you choose us to perform the installation for you. We pull all required permits and coordinate the inspections whenever the scope of the work calls for it. Every installation we complete carries our lifetime craftsmanship warranty, and a knowledgeable person always answers when you call.

The Importance of a Licensed Electrician for EV Charger Installation in Angleton

An EV charger adds one of the heaviest continuous loads a home will ever carry, which makes professional installation a real safety matter. A licensed electrician knows how to calculate your load, size the circuit for continuous duty, and confirm your panel can support the charger. That license is earned through exams, supervised field hours, and proven competence, none of which an unlicensed installer can match. In Angleton, an EV charger installation requires a permit and an inspection that only a licensed contractor can pull and coordinate. The danger of getting it wrong is real, because an undersized circuit running for hours can overheat and start a fire. A licensed electrician also recognizes when a panel lacks capacity and needs an upgrade rather than a risky shortcut. Insurance coverage and even some charger warranties can depend on the work being done to code by a qualified professional. Schultz Family Electric holds license number 748217 and backs every installation with a lifetime craftsmanship warranty. When a heavy charger runs unattended in your garage for hours each night, the expertise of a licensed electrician is what keeps your home safe. For an investment this large, that expertise is well worth it.

Commonly Asked EV Charger Installation Questions

A home EV charger needs a dedicated circuit sized for continuous load and a panel that can truly support it. These are the questions Angleton drivers ask us most often before scheduling EV charger installation:

The difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging comes down to voltage and speed. Level 1 charging uses a standard 120 volt household outlet and the cord included with the car. That setup requires no special installation, but it charges very slowly. A Level 1 charge often adds only a few miles of range per hour. Filling a depleted battery this way can take well over a full day. Level 2 charging uses a 240 volt circuit, the same voltage as a dryer or range. That higher voltage delivers far more power and charges much faster. For most drivers, Level 2 is the practical choice for charging at home.

The practical impact of the difference is significant for daily driving. A Level 2 charger can add many times the range per hour that Level 1 provides. Most electric vehicles charge fully overnight on a Level 2 charger. That means starting each day with a full battery without any planning. Level 1 may suit a driver with a short commute and plenty of time to charge. Level 2 suits nearly everyone else who wants reliable, fast home charging. The faster charging requires a dedicated 240 volt circuit installed correctly. That installation is what unlocks the convenience of charging at home.

Schultz Family Electric helps you choose and install the right charging level. We discuss your driving habits and your vehicle’s needs. We explain how Level 1 and Level 2 charging differ in plain terms. We recommend Level 2 for most drivers who want fast, reliable charging. We size and install the 240 volt circuit a Level 2 charger requires. We confirm your panel can support the charger before installing. We never push more than your situation actually needs. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. The right charging level gives you the convenience you are looking for.

Whether your panel can support an EV charger depends on its capacity and your existing load. An EV charger is a large load that runs for hours, so the panel must have room. A home with two hundred amp service and a modest load often has the capacity. A home already near its limit may not have room without changes. The only way to know for certain is a load calculation. We calculate your home’s existing demand against your service capacity. That calculation tells us honestly whether the charger fits as things stand. We never add a heavy charger without confirming the panel can handle it.

When a panel lacks capacity, there are good options to consider. A service upgrade increases your total capacity and makes room for the charger. A load management device is another path, reducing charging when other large loads run. These smart devices let a charger share capacity safely on some homes. The right option depends on your panel, your home, and your budget. We evaluate your situation and explain the choices honestly. We never push an upgrade you do not genuinely need. We also never overload a panel just to avoid a larger project.

Schultz Family Electric determines whether your panel supports a charger. We perform a load calculation to compare your demand and capacity. We inspect your panel for available capacity and open slots. We tell you honestly whether the charger fits as your panel stands. We recommend a service upgrade or load management when needed. We explain each option in plain terms so you can decide. We size the charger circuit correctly once the path is clear. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A confirmed panel is the foundation of safe, reliable charging.

The time to install an EV charger depends on several factors specific to your home. A straightforward installation near the panel can often be completed fairly quickly. A charger located far from the panel requires a longer wiring run and more time. The condition of your panel matters, since an upgrade adds significantly to the work. The path the wiring must travel affects the time, with an open garage being easier. Whether the charger is hardwired or plug in influences the work slightly. Permit and inspection scheduling can affect when the job wraps up fully. We give you a realistic timeline once we have evaluated your situation.

Several conditions can extend an EV charger installation. A long run from the panel to the charger means more wire and labor. Finished walls that must be opened and patched add time to the job. A panel that needs an upgrade first turns the work into a larger project. A load management device adds its own installation and setup. An outdoor or difficult location can slow the wiring considerably. We account for all of these factors when we estimate the time. We keep you informed as the work moves along.

Schultz Family Electric works efficiently while never rushing the important steps. We arrive prepared with the wire, breaker, and materials your charger requires. We give you a realistic time estimate after evaluating the job. We size and run the circuit carefully rather than cutting corners. We test the completed installation before we consider it done. We keep the work area clean and respect your time. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A charger installed carefully the first time charges reliably for years.

The choice between a hardwired and a plug in charger depends on your preferences and situation. A hardwired charger connects directly to the circuit for a clean, permanent installation. A plug in charger uses a dedicated heavy duty outlet and can be unplugged. Both deliver the same fast Level 2 charging when installed correctly. A hardwired charger offers a tidy look with no visible outlet or plug. A plug in charger offers the flexibility to remove or replace the unit easily. Outdoor installations sometimes favor hardwiring for better weather protection. We help you weigh the two based on what matters to you.

Each option has its practical advantages. A hardwired charger can sometimes support a higher charging current than a plug in unit. It also eliminates the outlet as a potential point of wear. A plug in charger makes it simple to take the unit with you if you move. It also allows swapping the charger without an electrician for the outlet. The outlet itself must be a proper heavy duty receptacle rated for the load. We install either type to the same exacting standard. The right choice comes down to your priorities.

Schultz Family Electric installs both hardwired and plug in chargers correctly. We discuss the advantages of each option for your situation. We recommend the type that fits your preferences and your charger. We install a hardwired charger with a clean, permanent connection. We install a plug in charger on a proper, rated dedicated outlet. We size the circuit correctly for whichever type you choose. We explain the choice in plain terms so you can decide. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Either type gives you fast, reliable charging done right.

Yes, you can install an EV charger outside when the right equipment is used. Many homeowners charge in a driveway or carport rather than a garage. An outdoor charger must be rated for outdoor exposure and our climate. The unit, the wiring, and the connections all face rain, humidity, and salt air. Equipment not rated for these conditions corrodes and fails quickly here. We select weatherproof, corrosion resistant equipment for outdoor installations. We seal the connections and protect the wiring against moisture. A properly equipped outdoor charger works reliably for years.

An outdoor installation involves some added considerations. The charger must carry a rating suitable for outdoor and wet conditions. The wiring and any outlet must be rated and protected for outdoor use. The mounting must be secure and at a practical height for use. The connections must be sealed against the moisture our climate delivers. GFCI protection is especially important in an outdoor location. We handle all of these requirements as part of the installation. Building for the environment from the start prevents early failure.

Schultz Family Electric installs outdoor EV chargers built to last. We select a charger rated for outdoor exposure and our climate. We use weatherproof, corrosion resistant wiring and connections. We seal everything against the moisture and humidity outdoors. We provide the GFCI protection an outdoor location requires. We mount the charger securely at a comfortable height. We explain the outdoor requirements in plain terms. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A properly built outdoor charger handles our coastal weather reliably.

The cost to install an EV charger depends on several factors specific to your home. The distance from your panel to the charger affects the wire and labor needed. The size of the charger and its circuit influences the materials required. Your panel’s capacity matters, since an upgrade adds to the project. The path the wiring must travel affects the labor involved. Whether the charger is hardwired or plug in plays a small role. Permit and inspection fees are part of the total where required. Every situation is different, so an accurate price requires evaluating your setup.

We believe in clear, upfront pricing for EV charger installation. After evaluating your panel and the charger location, we explain what the job requires. We lay out the cost of the circuit, the charger connection, and any panel work. We tell you honestly whether your panel can support the charger as is. There are no surprise charges added after the work is done. We never recommend an upgrade your installation does not actually need. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Our honest pricing reflects our commitment to being your electrician for life.

Schultz Family Electric provides fair pricing for safe charger installation. We evaluate your panel, the charger, and the distance involved. We explain each part of the job and its cost in plain terms. We confirm whether your panel needs work to support the charger. We never cut corners on circuit size or connections to lower a price. The lifetime craftsmanship warranty reflects our confidence in the work. Because we are local, our response is fast and our pricing fair. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. A properly installed charger is worth the investment in reliability.

Yes, installing an EV charger requires a permit in nearly every case. The work involves a new high capacity circuit and a heavy continuous load. That work is significant enough to require official oversight. A permit ensures the installation is reviewed against the current code. The inspection confirms the circuit is sized and installed correctly. The continuous load of a charger makes proper sizing especially important. A licensed contractor pulls the permit and coordinates the inspection. Skipping these steps is both unsafe and against the rules.

The permit and inspection process protects you in real ways. It confirms the circuit is sized correctly for the charger’s continuous load. It verifies the connections are secure and the breaker is properly matched. It creates a documented record that the work met the code. That record matters when you sell your home later. It also supports your homeowner’s insurance coverage. Unpermitted electrical work can jeopardize a future claim. The inspection catches any issue before it becomes a hazard.

Schultz Family Electric handles the entire permit and inspection process. We pull the required permit before the work begins. We install the charger circuit to the full standard of the code. We coordinate the inspection so the timing works smoothly. We are fully licensed under number 748217, which the permit requires. We stand behind the inspected work with our lifetime craftsmanship warranty. We explain each step so you understand the process. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. Handling the paperwork correctly is part of doing the job right.

Charging two electric vehicles at home is possible, and more households are doing it as families go electric. The simplest approach installs two separate chargers, each on its own dedicated circuit. That setup lets both vehicles charge at full speed at the same time. The challenge is that two chargers together represent a very large combined load. Your panel must have the capacity to support both circuits running at once. Many homes need a service upgrade before they can handle two full chargers. A load calculation tells us honestly whether your panel can manage the demand. We evaluate that carefully before recommending the right approach for two vehicles.

There are smarter options when a panel cannot support two full chargers. Load management devices let two chargers share the available capacity intelligently. These systems balance the power between the vehicles rather than running both at full draw. The chargers may charge a little slower when both are plugged in, but both still charge overnight. Some chargers are designed specifically to link and share a single circuit’s capacity. This approach often avoids the cost of a full service upgrade. We help you weigh load management against upgrading your service. The right choice depends on your panel, your vehicles, and how you charge.

Schultz Family Electric sets up reliable charging for two electric vehicles. We perform a load calculation to see what your panel can support. We recommend two full chargers when your capacity allows it. We install load management when sharing capacity is the smarter path. We recommend a service upgrade when that is the right solution. We size and install each circuit correctly for safe operation. We explain the options in plain terms so you can decide. The diagnostic fee disappears when you choose us for the work. The right setup keeps both vehicles charged and ready each morning.
