Our Electrical Service in Lake Jackson, TX

Open the cover of your electrical panel and you are looking at the control center that decides how power moves through the entire house. Schultz Family Electric matches each Lake Jackson panel to the load your family puts on it, keeping open slots ready for the projects still on your list. A fair share of the city’s mid century houses run on a 100 amp service that runs out of room the second central air, an electric range, and a roomful of plugged in gear all demand power. Upgrading to 200 amp service ends that shortfall, taking on heavier loads while shutting down the trips that leave you reaching for a flashlight. The first clues usually show themselves plainly, in a blackened breaker, a corroded bus, a faceplate warm to the touch, or the sharp smell of cooked insulation. Our remedy is direct, swapping out dead breakers, torquing slack lugs back to spec, and lightening a bus that has been carrying too much. Backyard shops, detached garages, and finished additions often call for a subpanel that runs their circuits without leaning on the main service. Every panel job wraps up with a labeled directory, so finding the breaker you want is a matter of reading, not guessing.

The hidden half of your electrical system, the wiring buried in walls and ceilings, quietly carries the greatest weight in keeping the house safe. Lake Jackson homes built in earlier eras sometimes still hold cloth insulated conductors or aluminum branch circuits, and our team rewires both from the ground up. Aluminum betrays itself over time, growing under load and shrinking as it cools until a once tight connection loosens and heat collects out of sight. Trading it for copper conductors with terminations sized to the real load shuts that danger down and brings the circuit back to dependable footing. The heavy hitters, your range, dryer, and built in microwave, run smooth and trip free once each rides a dedicated circuit built just for it. Cooling equipment asks for the same courtesy, because the surge a window or central unit pulls at startup will swamp any line forced to share. A bare garage starts earning its keep the moment we add the receptacles, lighting, and tool circuits that plain concrete never offered. Not a foot of the wire we run strays from the National Electrical Code or the local rules Brazoria County keeps on the books.

Among everything you touch in a room, the outlet takes the most punishment, and that steady use eventually loosens its hold, throws a spark, or leaves it dead. We install and replace standard receptacles all day long, confirming polarity, a solid ground, and a grip that holds on every single one. Where moisture is part of the room, the kitchen, the bath, the garage, the laundry, and the outdoor walls, GFCI outlets cut power before a shock has the chance to reach skin. The code names exactly where that protection has to sit, and we comb the house to be sure it appears in each required spot. A breaker that trips again and again is rarely the real culprit, more often a messenger pointing to a fault sitting deeper in the line. We set in fresh breakers and rebuild panels wherever a breaker stops seating tight or quits resetting the way it was built to. Grounding holds up its end by guiding stray current safely into the earth, protecting the family and the electronics filling the rooms. When a system was wired before grounding became routine, we modernize it with ground rods, bonding jumpers, and grounding electrodes.

Walk into a room lit the right way and you feel it instantly, both in comfort and in how surely you handle a stair or hallway after dark. Our interior lighting work runs the whole list, from recessed cans and track heads to pendants, sconces, and strips tucked under the cabinets. A ceiling fan brings real relief from the heat, though it only stays put when it hangs from a fan rated box made to shoulder the motion. We balance each fan during the mount, so it turns without a shudder and stays quiet through season after season of steady spinning. Once you step outside, lighting works on two fronts, lifting curb appeal while keeping the drive, the patio, and the walkways visible past midnight. Across Lake Jackson yards, landscape lights, security floods, and motion sensors wave off intruders and lay down a clear path to the door. The argument for LED writes itself, drawing little wattage, giving off scarcely any heat, and holding a bright, level output for years. Scatter dimmers and timers through the house and the mood, the schedule, and the bottom line of your power bill all fall under your control.

Charging an electric vehicle overnight calls for a Level 2 charger, since an everyday wall outlet trickles power back into the battery far too slowly. We install EV chargers on dedicated 240 volt circuits, every one matched to your specific car and the spare capacity your panel can give. A whole house generator earns its place the instant a storm drops the grid and your refrigerator, lights, and air conditioning never miss a beat. Correct wiring of the automatic transfer switch is what allows the unit to start on its own and power the home without backfeeding the utility line. Fixed at the panel, surge protection throws up a barrier against the voltage spikes that ride the wires when the storms this region knows roll through. A spa lives by its own rules, requiring a GFCI protected circuit and a weatherproof disconnect placed a safe distance from the water. Around pools and hot tubs, bonding ties every metal component into one safe network and drains off the shock hazard water creates. Real danger hides in the details of each of these jobs, which is the simplest reason to leave them to a licensed electrician.

Fire spreads in seconds, and the smoke detector is what gives you the early warning to move, but only if it sits where it belongs with steady power. We mount hardwired detectors backed by battery on every floor and inside each bedroom, holding to the code at every step. For sprawling homes and commercial spaces, a linked fire alarm system unites the detectors so a single trip raises the alarm throughout the building. Keeping eyes on the entries, the driveway, and the yard turns easy once security cameras feed a live picture straight to your phone. We take on the camera mounting, the cable runs, and the recorder setup, so the image holds sharp and the footage records without a gap. An electrical inspection pulls hidden trouble into the open, catching overloaded circuits and worn connections well ahead of an outage or fire. We work through the panel, the wiring, the outlets, and the grounding, then hand over a written report you can keep on file. Buyers, sellers, and insurers across Lake Jackson rely on that report as firm ground before they sign their name to anything.

Day to day living gets easier when lighting, thermostats, locks, and cameras all answer to one app, whether you are in the next room or out of town. Smart switches, hubs, and panels carry the load, and we wire them so each device talks to the next and behaves the way you planned. A real home theater asks for clean power, concealed cable, and outlets set behind the screen and components for a finished, clutter free look. We frame out the media wall and place the gear so the whole system runs cool, stays organized, and disappears into the room. Lake Jackson businesses count on us for lighting, panel upgrades, tenant build outs, and inspection ready installs that keep the workday on track. Scheduling around your open hours lets the shop, office, or restaurant keep serving customers while the electrical work moves forward. Because failures keep no schedule, our emergency electrician answers when a panel sparks, the power quits, or a burning smell drifts through the rooms. Standing behind each of these services is the same licensed skill, fair pricing, and lifetime craftsmanship warranty that keeps Lake Jackson calling Schultz Family Electric first.

Why Electrical Code Compliance Matters for Homeowners in Lake Jackson

Lake Jackson was planned and built with care, and its mid century homes carry real character. Those same homes often hold older wiring that no longer matches modern code. The National Electrical Code has tightened many rules since these houses first went up. Outdated panels, two prong outlets, and undersized service are common findings in established Lake Jackson neighborhoods. As families add appliances and electronics, that aging infrastructure gets pushed past its limits. Overloaded circuits and worn connections quietly raise the risk of fire over time. Permitting and inspection confirm that an upgrade restores a home to a safe, current standard. Gulf area humidity makes solid grounding and surge protection a worthwhile investment here. Compliant work also smooths the path during refinancing, resale, and insurance reviews. Updating a classic Lake Jackson home to code lets you keep its charm without the hidden risk.

“I had an excellent experience with this electrician from start to finish. Communication was prompt and professional, the work was completed on schedule, and the quality of craftsmanship was outstanding. They took the time to explain the process clearly, addressed all of my questions, and ensured everything was completed safely and up to code. The attention to detail, professionalism, and respect for my home truly stood out. I would confidently recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality electrical work. After a tree fell and took out the power line to our home, Brandon from Schultz Family Electric was at our house within the hour. After evaluating the damage, the news wasn’t great due to the age of our home, but Brandon immediately reassured us by saying, ‘Don’t worry. I got you.’ And he absolutely did. The entire housing setup needed to be upgraded, and he wasted no time getting started. He provided a precise and fair estimate, set us up with a generator for temporary power, and kept us informed every step of the way. Brandon and his coworker, Armando, completed the entire job in just one day. Their efficiency, professionalism, and dedication during such a stressful situation were truly exceptional. Brandon and Armando are genuinely good people: trustworthy, friendly, and honest. It’s rare to find contractors who combine such high-quality workmanship with integrity and compassion. I know I still have more projects to complete on my home, and Brandon will absolutely be the first person I call for any future electrical work.”

Would highly recommend! Brandon came to see us after hours the day we called to help us with our set up. We got a portable generator and had never owned any sort of generator before. He explained everything which we needed and any additional add-ons we might want for the future, but did not push us on ANYTHING. He showed us exactly the parts we needed on Amazon we could get ourselves to save a bit of money as well. Workers came out and were done in the span of 2 hours or so. They even did a little extra by routing the wiring so that the port outlet for the generator could be behind our fence as we asked for safety purposes. After all was done they showed us the steps on getting the generator running during outages and we did a test run so make sure all went well. They will also do maintenance and checks on your generator annually or bi-annually each year so to make sure all is well before hurricane season. Definitely will be my go to electrician.
